The Estevan and District Chamber of Commerce has found fresh but firm footing in their role as advocates for the local and regional business community.

Jackie Wall, who was appointed as the C of C鈥檚 manager last year, following a major adjustment that saw the tourism and economic development portfolios that had been in the chamber鈥檚 purview for years, moving over to city hall.

That meant the chamber could focus on it鈥檚 main objective, said Wall at the local chamber鈥檚 112th birthday party that was celebrated at the Sask Energy Training Institute/小蓝视频east College campus on June 8.

鈥淚t鈥檚 member communications, it鈥檚 partnerships we now form with businesses and other associations, it鈥檚 lobbying and advocacy for businesses and it鈥檚 also a need to rework our policy and procedures, because of the changes,鈥 said Wall.

鈥淲e can really centre ourselves with our members and make our voices heard locally, regionally, provincially and even nationally,鈥 she added, noting the local, as well as provincial, chambers have the ear of the provincial government, and the official opposition, which makes ongoing dialogue a lot easier.

鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing the local Chamber of Commerce (sometimes known as the Board of Trade in the past) has been a part of Estevan for so long. There鈥檚 a reason for that,鈥 she said, suggesting that the work the C of C does is vital to the well 小蓝视频 of business community, as well as the residents of the city and neighbouring municipalities.
