CCS facility at Boundary Dam online for all of March; more than 75,000 tonnes of CO2 captured

The carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at SaskPower鈥檚 Boundary Dam Power Station had another highly productive month in March.

The carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at SaskPower鈥檚 Boundary Dam Power Station had another highly productive month in March.

According to information supplied by SaskPower earlier this week, the CCS facility captured 75,385 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2). The average daily capture when CCS was online was 2,431 tonnes per day, with a peak one-day capture of 2,507 tonnes.

In the previous 12 months, the CCS facility captured an average of 61,919 tonnes of CO2 each month.

The CCS facility was online for 100 per cent of the month.

During the previous 12 months, it had been online about 85 per cent of the time.

As previously reported, in March the CCS facility surpassed four million tonnes of CO2 captured since operations began in 2014. As of March 31, the CCS facility had captured 4,003,004 tonnes of CO2 since it began operations, including 192,457 tonnes this year.
