CCS facility at Boundary Dam online for all of April

More than 79,000 tonnes of CO2 were kept from entering Earth's atmosphere thanks to CCS.

It was another highly-productive month for the CCS facility at SaskPower's Boundary Dam Power Station.

ESTEVAN - The carbon capture and storage facility at SaskPower’s Boundary Dam Power Station was online for 100 per cent of the time during April.

The facility captured 79,312 tonnes of carbon dioxide last month. The average daily capture was 2,651 tonnes, with a peak one-day capture of 2,899 tonnes.

It captured 80.5 per cent of its maximum volume.

CCS stayed online throughout the month despite the adverse weather challenges that hit the southeast.

It was the second straight month of strong performances for the CCS facility. It was online for nearly 100 per cent of the time in March. The 12-month average from April 2021-March 2022 was 小蓝视频 online for 40.9 per cent of the time.

In the first four months of the year, the CCS facility has prevented 197,354 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. Since it came online in October 2014, more than 4.45 million tonnes of CO2 have been captured.
