CARNDUFF - Who says there’s no such thing as a free lunch?

The town of Carnduff had one on June 1, thanks to Access Communications Co-operative Ltd. Over 80 communities will be enjoying a free lunch this summer, compliments of Access.

Barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs were served, along with bottled water. Sunglasses were also handed out to the kids.

Events such as this are part of Access’ vision. As a non-profit organization, their profits are turned back to Saskatchewan communities. Lunches are a small part of that. They also give back through sponsorships, better services and charities such as the Access Communications Children’s Fund.

That fund alone receives about $200,000 yearly from Access’ profits and the proceeds of their weekly televised bingo games.

Access is a Saskatchewan-only wireless company which features local community programming. Presently, their service covers about 250,000 square kilometres, which is just under half of Saskatchewan’s total province.

Chances are if you live in the land of the living skies, you have access to the TV programming and internet services that Access provides.

Plus, you have access to those free lunches.
