Located on the south side of Main Street in Carlyle is one of the town’s anchor businesses, Pharmasave.
Jolyn Schultz (daughter of Dale and Lynn Brady) graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1993 and her first pharmacist job was in Dauphin, Man.
It was there that she met future husband Steve, who was then working for the local television station. After a stint at the TV station in Yorkton, Steve moved to Carlyle where Jolyn had moved back to and had gone to work for Bill Ramsay, owner of Ramsey Drugs.
In July 2003 they opened their own pharmacy under the Pharmasave banner. Mac Fletcher had built them an 8,000-square foot store and this is where their business has thrived and resided for over 18 years.
Carlyle Pharmasave has grown steadily over time and now has 10 full-time and 10 part-time employees. Including Jolyn, they have four pharmacists and two certified pharmacy technicians.
Over the years, Steve and Jolyn have diversified their business to offer more products and services to Carlyle and area. Four years ago, they added Howie’s Hockey Tape, a hockey accessory company selling tape, laces, and the like.
This past year, they became an express dealer for M & M Meats. Both sidelines have added additional foot traffic to their business and these entrepreneurs are always on the lookout for additional possibilities.
Steve and Jolyn have two daughters. Kendra, 18, just graduated from high school and is attending university at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Kassidy, 14, is in grade 10.
Adds Steve: “Jolyn and I are so lucky to own and operate a successful business here in southeastern Saskatchewan. We consider Carlyle to be a centre of commerce and we have many loyal customers that live both in and out of town. We have an outstanding team and our staff is top-notch and knowledgeable.“
Carlyle Pharmasave is a great supporter of community events and Steve and Jolyn are always willing to lend a helping hand. They are open Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pharmasave Carlyle is their Facebook page.
