Audrey MacMurchy wins provincial safety award

A local woman has been recognized for her commitment to safety on the job. Audrey MacMurchy, who works at Kingston Midstream Limited in Estevan, is the winner of the WorkSafe Saskatchewan Safe Worker Award.

A local woman has been recognized for her commitment to safety on the job.

Audrey MacMurchy, who works at Kingston Midstream Limited in Estevan, is the winner of the WorkSafe Saskatchewan Safe Worker Award. The recognition is presented by WorkSafe Saskatchewan, a partnership between the Saskatchewan Workers鈥 Compensation Board (WCB) and the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety.

Each year, WorkSafe Saskatchewan presents the Safe Worker Award to an employee who goes beyond the expectations of their position to help create a safer workplace. This award aims to recognize workers that model innovative and successful safety practices in their workplace. In many situations, the winners are not in formal leadership roles, but have taken the opportunity to become safety leaders in their workplace.

MacMurchy works as an administrative assistant with Kingston Midstream. According to WorkSafe, she took an active leadership role within the organization to ensure that employees stayed safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to COVID-19, she continued to reinforce safe work practices and demonstrated leadership in modelling COVID-19 protocol behaviours.

鈥淚n addition to setting a positive example, Audrey took the initiative to reimagine how meetings would be conducted. Despite not 小蓝视频 in a formal leadership role, Audrey was able to influence the organization in following health and safety expectations, demonstrating the value of her informal leadership,鈥 the bio states.

Also, Triple A Directional Drilling in Yorkton won the Safe Employer Award. It is presented to a best practice employer who builds safety into every task. This award recognizes employers who place a heavy emphasis on safety and make it a key part of their operations.

Workplace peers and colleagues nominate the recipients of these awards. Two committees representing WorkSafe Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour, the Saskatchewan Safety Council and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers adjudicate the nominations.
