ASSINIBOIA - The ownership of ZA Computers in Assiniboia has changed hands as of October 25. It still operates under the exact same name, and the phone number also remains the same.
An enthusiastic and ambitious young couple from China, Dongxuan Qi (Marko) and Ying Wang (Emily), recently purchased ZA Computers from Walter and Carole Agopsowicz who finally retired and moved to Caron, Saskatchewan, slightly west of Moose Jaw.
Walter, and Carole lived and worked hard in Assiniboia for more than two whole decades. Everyone who knew Walter and Carole, hated to see them leave. In an interview, Walter said of the new owners:
“We certainly could not have found a nicer young couple than Emily and Marko to buy our home and business. They are lovely people. We were very blessed in our dealings with them. I certainly hope they do well there in Assiniboia”.
For now, ZA Computers will remain virtually unchanged in its day-to-day operations, focusing mainly on selling and repairing computers. Two small changes have recently been made, however.
A new colour photo processing machine has been added to the business, and is getting great reviews and ‘big time use’ from delighted local patrons. Since Marko and Emily operate the business together as partners, they are now able to offer ‘house-calls’ as a special new service for those who prefer not to leave the comfort and convenience of their own home or office.
Emily and Marko moved here to Assiniboia from Beijing, a large asian metropolis and the capital city of China. Beijing has a huge population of more than 8,580,000 people. In China, Marko and Emily own and operate a successful agricultural based company that trades in raw materials necessary for the making of chemical farm fertilizers which are used all around the world.
The couple appears to have had a good life back home in China surrounded by good friends and family. They owned a beautiful home, a nice car, and continue to operate their ever expanding business there. They have one five year old son named Alex.
When asked why they wished to move to Canada, if indeed they had such a good life back in China, they carefully and quietly explained: “In China, everyone works very hard to become successful. Even our children work hard trying to get good grades, and a good education - hoping to become the best they can be. They study, study, study. They study all the time!
“They work so hard at their studies that they have no time to just be children. They grow up without ever having had a childhood to enjoy. That is why we moved here to Canada. Assiniboia is a small town. Maybe here our son Alex can have a normal, well-balanced childhood. That is our wish for him”.
As for their new life in Canada, only time will tell the tale. Emily understands and speaks good English. Her husband Marko understands English quite well, but does not yet speak it fluently. According to Emily, they are determined to do well here, and fit into the community. They plan to get involved and hope to become a positive asset to Assiniboia, contributing their time, energy, and skills to help make Assiniboia a little better place to live.
