Clients for the adult day program at St. Joseph鈥檚 Hospital have enjoyed several trips to the Boundary Dam Power Station during the past month, allowing them to view the world-leading technology currently at the facility.
Approximately 45 people took a tour from Boundary Dam staff. The clients and the day hospital鈥檚 employees and volunteers also learned more about the impact that natural resources have on the local economy.
Marian Huber, the director of spiritual care at the hospital and supervisor for the adult day program, noted many of the clients had never been to Boundary Dam before. A few of them have relatives who work at the plant, so they enjoyed seeing what goes on.聽聽聽
It鈥檚 the latest activity in the community for the day program participants. Earlier this year, they visited the Woodlawn Regional Park鈥檚 Boundary Dam campground for a barbecue, and toured the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club.
Huber is optimistic they will be able to attend a practice for the Estevan Power Dodge Bruins in the future.
The tours, and other events in the community, were possible through funding from the United Way Estevan. The day hospital is a United Way member agency.
