The organizers of Weyburn's international friendship dinners will dedicate the next dinner as a fundraiser for Pakistan flood relief.Media reports say as many as 20 million people are homeless from the extensive flooding in that country, with the flooding continuing to worse. The United Nations has made a plea for the nations of the world to rally to their aid while the conditions in Pakistan continue to deteriorate.The event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 26 at the Calvary Baptist Church, located at 1619 First Avenue NE. It will start with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a short program at 7.Pastor Doug Loden will provide an update of information about the conditions in Pakistan, some musical entertainment will be provided, and an offering will be taken through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.As an international aid agency, the government will match donations through the Foodgrains Bank.The international friendship dinners are put on by Calvary Baptist and Weyburn Free Methodist Churches, and bring together residents and new immigrants to Canada and to Weyburn.
