Two southeast Saskatchewan women were honoured for their craft in the Nation's capital last month.
Weyburn native Trenna Keating won the top prize at Ottawa Little Theatre's 70th National One-Act Playwriting Competition. Keating received the Ottawa Little Theatre (OLT) Award and $1,000 for her play "The Women of Gonzales." Keating currently resides in Toronto and is the daughter of Jim and Jan Keating of Weyburn.
Leann Minogue of Griffin received an honourable mention for her play "Bloom."
The winners will all be invited to Ottawa in May to work with OLT's directors and actors to mount public readings of the winning plays. These readings of the winning plays will be held on May 14 in OLT's Janigan Studio. Tickets are currently on sale for this event.
OLT's National One-Act Playwriting Competition was first held in 1937 and has been won by a who's who of Canadian literary luminaries. This year there were over 100 entries into the competition from nine different provinces.
