WEYBURN - The deadline to enter the 40th annual James Weir People’s Choice Art Exhibition contest is fast approaching, as entry forms need to be in by Friday, Dec. 15.

The art works must be delivered to the Weyburn Art Gallery between Dec. 17 and Jan. 4, 2024, by 10 a.m. If the work is not delivered on time, it will not be included in the annual exhibition.

The entries for the People’s Choice exhibition will be on display in the Weyburn Art Gallery from Jan. 5 to March 22.

Patrons to the gallery are asked to vote on their top three favourite pieces up until 5 p.m. on March 15. The winners will be announced at a reception on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Weyburn Art Gallery.

Entrants must reside in southeast Saskatchewan, and 16 years of age or older. All works of art must be recent, produced in 2021-23, and never shown in a gallery.

All mediums of art are acceptable for the exhibit, and a set of two or three related pieces will be allowed when applicable.

Works of art cannot use commercial patterns, and reproductions of other artists’ works will not be accepted, such as paintings of photos the artist does not own the rights to.

The art works must not be signed by the artist, as they are to be displayed without identification for the purposes of voting by the public.

As tours will be done of the People’s Choice exhibition, artists can supply an artist’s statement with their work by emailing it to curator Regan Lanning at [email protected].
