Fall has arrived and we are gradually getting back into the swing of things. We hope you had an enjoyable and refreshing summer, notwithstanding the wet weather. This summer we experimented with some informal worship styles, including caf茅-style worship in the hall. We have decided to continue with a Sunday service time of 10:30 AM year-round so that there would not need to be confusion at the beginning and end of summer. Coffee will be on so come early and enjoy the fellowship. We are using Easy Worship so you will have the choice of using a bulletin or following along graphically on the projector.
Youth Group continues under the leadership of Margaret Bell, meeting Sundays at 2PM. The Worship Committee is considering alternate ways to provide our children's programming, and a questionnaire will be sent out soon to families with young children. Meanwhile, Sunday School will be available at 10:30 on Sundays.
Bible Study has resumed on Wednesday mornings at 9:30. This is an interesting and enjoyable group and anyone is welcome to join in. Choir practice resumes Thursday evenings at 7:00 as of September 30th and the choir would welcome new members so if you enjoy singing, come along to practice.
I (Michelle) will be in the church office Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This is a slight change in office hours as I was previously in Tuesday to Friday but only for three hours on Thursdays. If something comes up that requires my presence in the office earlier in the week, I will organize my schedule around such events and I can be reached at home at 448-4913.
The church is looking for volunteers to serve on a "Dream Team" committee which would brainstorm some plans regarding the best use of bequests, etc., to move the congregation into the future. If you would be interested in serving on this task force, please contact Doug Waldner or the church office at 453-6136.
If you are not receiving regular e-mailings of our church announcements, please call the church office or e-mail us your address to [email protected]. If you have not done so already, check out our Facebook page (name - Carlyle United Church). We are now posting the weekly Sunday reflections for discussion.
Stay tuned for further announcements about events at Carlyle United.
