The weather is still holding out, not a snowflake in sight, but it is November so Christmas is a-coming and I hope the goose is getting fat. Advent services begin November 27 and of course there will be a full line-up including pageants, community carol service, white gifts and Christmas Eve communion. Stay tuned for the full schedule.
On Nov. 5 there will be a visioning workshop for the congregation, led by Moses Kanhai of Saskatchewan Conference. This is our opportunity to look to the future, re-establish a vision and mission for our congregation, and do some long-range planning. All members of the congregation are encouraged to come and participate.
On Nov. 20 we will have a pot-luck lunch after church based on the 100-mile diet. Everyone is invited to attend, and bring something which is created out of local ingredients. This can of course include southern Manitoba or elsewhere in Saskatchewan. The idea is to remind us all how far food stuffs often travel to get here, with its toll on the environment, and how good and nutritious local foods can be. Proceeds will go to the ramp project and M&S.
When you visit the church, you will notice a new ramp under construction in the narthex to make the hall wheelchair-accessible all year. Appreciation to Dale and Lynn Brady, Paul Twietmeyer, and others who have contributed to this project. There will be a silent auction during the Dickens High Tea to help defray costs. Contributions of items for the auction would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the church Wednesday-Friday, and of course, on Sunday morning. You will also note an automatic dishwasher in the kitchen.
We hope that life is not too busy this fall for you to enjoy the blessings of Community, Church, and Family in balance.
May God bless you and keep you.
