TEML and Richardson Foundation donate $100,000

Donation is 10x what they asked for

Oxbow鈥 On June 29 the Oxbow swimming pool committee got a big boost courtesy the Richardson Foundation and TEML. (The Richardson family owns TEML and several other companies, including Tundra Oil and Gas Limited, Pioneer and James Richardson & Sons International. The foundation is the charitable arm of Richardson family.)

The swimming pool committee applied to TEML for $10,000, according to John Williams, TEML vice president of pipeline operations. He noted, 鈥淏oth the foundation and TEML are committed to helping enrich the lives of people in the communities in which our employees, customers and stakeholders reside. Every year the foundation donates $1.5M to communities in Western Canada.聽

鈥淭here is a lot of competition for this funding and applicants have to pass through several layers of approval to win funding,鈥 Williams said.

鈥淚 liked the fact that this project would bring long term benefit to a wide range of people but what really made it stand out was the commitment, effort and engagement of not only the swimming pool Committee but the whole community of Oxbow. At the time they had raised almost $1M in 5 years. For a community of around 1,300 people and given the current economic climate we felt that was an incredible achievement and deserved our support. Clearly the Richardson Foundation thought the same and they increased the donation to $100,000 (from the $10,000 requested).

Williams added, 鈥淚鈥檝e been privileged to work in many different countries and I have to say that in my time here one thing that has really stood out is the strong community spirit in Saskatchewan and the determination to make a difference. It is second to none.鈥

Additionally, on June 26, TEML and the Richardson Foundation donated $15,000 to the Torquay Fire Department in support of purchasing a rapid response wildland fire truck.
