ASSINIBOIA - Riley Malone and Corey Gulaga, representing the Shaunavon Fire Department, competed in the regional Firefit competition held in Regina in August and qualified to compete at the national and World competition held consecutively in Calgary on September 8-11.
At the regionals, the pair won a gold medal in the two-man relay event, which advanced them to the world competition.
They also qualified individually, with Corey also winning a gold medal in the chiefs division at regionals.
At the world competition, they teamed up with Tristan Meade, representing Yellowhead County fire department.
In this three-five man relay, they won silver at the World Firefit Competition.
This was their first time competing, and they did an excellent job representing their departments, their province and their country.
