Assiniboia Child Care Services received a major financial donation from the Rotary Club of Assiniboia on May 16 that will be used to build an outdoor deck for the facility.
鈥淲e鈥檙e going to help build the future of our community,鈥 said Bob Scott, Rotary Club of Assiniboia president, when he presented the funds to Michele Vallieres and Jenn Pituley from Assiniboia Child Care Services.
Assiniboia鈥檚 Rotary Club will also be making another large donation for one of its international projects. It will be giving $25 in the name of each 2017 graduate at Assiniboia Composite High School to the Ripple Effect Program. As part of this program, the funds go to a Third World country to provide funds for building or renewing school infrastructure, books, school supplies, computers, desks, shelving, blackboards and whiteboards, safety and security measures, recreational equipment and scholarships. The Ripple Effect Program aims to create enriched learning environments and sustainable schools. The idea of the 鈥渞ipple effect鈥 is that these students will have their lives improved through education and in turn they will affect those around them who will in turn influence others. This program involves many clubs from Rotary District 5550, including Assiniboia鈥檚.
