ALIDA - In the afternoon of Jan. 29, there was a small group of approximately 25 participants (including children) together with 10 vehicles or so that gathered in Alida for a mini rally/parade, through the streets, in support of the truckers’ Freedom Convoy, which had toured to Ottawa. Following this parade, they gathered in front of the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ office on Centre Street to warm up by a bonfire and enjoy some hotdogs and soup.
Jan. 30 was another breakfast at the rink with Kitchen Group 3 in charge. They served up 38 breakfasts (tied the Breakfast Challenge total set by group 4). It was great to see that the guys from Redvers attend once again as well as others from the Wauchope area. Next Sunday it will be back to group 4 СÀ¶ÊÓƵ at the helm and let’s hope the weather will stay nice. Hope to keep seeing you at the rink and please remember COVID rules apply.
I received word that a relative of mine, Evelyn (Jensen) Svorkdal had passed away January 28/2022 at her home in Estevan at the age of 88 years. At this time a celebration of her life is scheduled to be held at a later date. Condolences are extended to all family members and relatives – especially the Carlsen families at Redvers and Wauchope.
The Alida Curling Club will host their Oilmen/Farmer’s Bonspiel on Feb. 4 and 5. They have also decided to host a ladies’ bonspiel at the end of February. Watch for further info. Once again please remember that the COVID rules are mandatory. Good luck curlers.
The homemade pizzas that were made by the Alida Rec. Board members have now been delivered, I do believe so. If you haven’t received yours give a call to one of the members and I’m sure that you will soon find out where it is and be able to pick it up. Take it from me – those pizzas are delicious. The members do appreciate all the support that they receive from their fundraisers.
Until next time, stay safe and stay warm.
