A Weyburn attraction of national appeal is the former church of preacher / politician Tommy Douglas.

The Calvary Baptist Church was built in Weyburn in 1906 by volunteers and moved to its present location on 小蓝视频 Hill in 1985, opening in 1991. It was Tommy Douglas' first parish, bringing him from Manitoba to Saskatchewan during the 1930's.

Mr. Douglas was the national leader of the New Democratic Party and the Premier of Saskatchewan during his career in politics. This restored site includes an additional room housing an extensive collection of memorabilia of the Douglas years.

The church is a tribute to the man who had an effect of Weyburn, Saskatchewan and Canada through his democratic socialist views and legislation, including the introduction of medicare in this country.

The building has been declared a Canadian Historical Site and renamed the T.C. Douglas Calvary Centre Theatre for the Performing Arts. It is now home to several arts events throughout the year including concerts, choirs, recitals, Crocus 80 theatre productions, and sessions of the Weyburn Music Festival every March.
