MARYFIELD - Happy new year!
Another new year begins and I’m wondering what it holds for us.
First of all, we have to catch up on the news. Christmas day dinner was served to about three- quarters of our residents. We started off with a gift bag containing a cozy fleece blanket and a roll of nickels to play Bingo or some chocolates, compliments of our staff.
It was followed by a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Thank you to all our staff for the wonderful meals.
Christmas day was also Fred Krukoff's 100th birthday. We were glad to have him back so we could celebrate with him and have cake and ice cream at supper. Boxing Day we celebrated Leora Thiessen's birthday.
I was away a couple of days celebrating Christmas with my family and as wonderful as it was, I was glad to get home to my own bed.
Then came New Year's Eve day. The afternoon started with Garry and Keith playing for us, after which we sat at L-shaped tables, set with festive patterned décor, where we were served plates of shrimp, cheese, pickles, crackers, chips and dip, and a glass of sparkling apple cider for a New Year's toast.
It was a wonderful way to end the year.
We look forward to a more settled world of health and happiness.
