The Kinette Club of Assiniboia invited families to join them at the Assiniboia Elementary School for a pancake breakfast held in the gym on the morning of December 8, . Children were encouraged to make a craft 鈥 a Christmas ornament they could take home 鈥 and call on Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children attending the breakfast received books as gifts. Photographers were also on hand in the gym to take pictures of Santa visiting with the children. Eighteen Kinette volunteers were present this Saturday morning to make sure the anticipated event ran effortlessly.
Several local businesses regularly assist the Kinette Club to put on this pancake breakfast 鈥 a popular occasion held annually in Assiniboia. 鈥淟ocal businesses including Kal Tire, Richardson Pioneer, 小蓝视频land Co-op and Rasmussen Plumbing are sponsors,鈥 Kerri Martin of the Kinettes said.
Martin also said the Kinettes were able to adopt two families this Christmas. The Kinettes in Assiniboia and other parts of Saskatchewan have an Adopt-a-Family Christmas Cheer Campaign in place to assist families in need with food and gifts. Willing donors are able to choose a family with the number of children they are able to support during the Christmas season. Often, Christmas can be a stressful time for families who are experiencing hardships. The charitable program supported by the Kinettes aids sponsored families by supplying gift cards for winter clothing, household supplies, pharmacy supplies, hygiene products, groceries and educational items. 聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽
