Finding the notes

It's close to sixteen years since I was first invited to submit a weekly column to some of my favourite publications. With the exception of a few trips to the hospital I haven't missed sending in any musings.

It's close to sixteen years since I was first invited to submit a weekly column to some of my favourite publications. With the exception of a few trips to the hospital I haven't missed sending in any musings. Gradually, and over those years, the number of individuals who receive the column by email has grown. Approximately three years ago I was honoured with another invitation to write a monthly column for an agricultural publication. There are weeks, however, when I have to scrutinize my mind and heart to come up with something new, times when I have to scrunch close to my thoughts to find the "notes" that might resonate with my readers.

Talking about notes, our three year old granddaughter and I were enjoying our weekly song-fest around the piano when she decided we should sing something from a large book I keep perched on the music rack. I flipped through the pages while she shook her head, "no, not that one". At last she decided on a piece which, of course, I didn't know. (It didn't matter to her since she didn't know any of them.) As I bent forward, adjusting my specs to look at the music, she sighed, turned to her mother and declared, "We can't sing this one, Mama. I can't find my glasses."

Ever feel that way: "I see the problem - it's unavoidable - and I know the 'rules' of how to deal with this scenario but I just can't see how everything will play out"? How wonderful to know that the One who made the morning stars sing together can breath upon the notes, and even the discords, of our life and create from them a symphony of praise!

"The Lord your God in your midstHe will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
