Woman charged for assault, damaging Estevan police cells

Police also called about impaired drivers, a stolen vehicle and another assault.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service has announced multiple charges against a 62-year-old woman.

Police were dispatched to a disturbance in the north end of the city on May 29. The woman was arrested for public intoxication and causing a disturbance. While in police custody, she damaged police property. She was lodged in cells until sober.

The following day, the EPS announced that as a result of an ongoing investigation, the woman had been arrested for an assault.

She will appear in court in August on the charges.

In other recent police news, members conducted a traffic stop on May 29 and determined that the motorist's licence was suspended. He was issued a ticket under the Traffic Safety Act and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

While on patrol, police located an insecure garage door at a residence. It did not appear that anyone had gained access to the garage, and members were able to secure the door.

Police were dispatched to a disturbance in the central area on May 30. A 45-year-old man was arrested for assault and lodged in cells. He will be released on conditions with an August court date.

Police received a report of a vehicle stolen from the central area of the city. Through an investigation, it was determined the vehicle was in Alberta. The EPS contacted police in Alberta, who located the vehicle and arrested two suspects. The matter remains under investigation.

Police received a report of a suspicious person outside of a local hotel on May 31. Members attended and spoke with a female. No further action was required.

A report was received of a vehicle 小蓝视频 taken from the driveway of a residence in the north part of the city. The matter is under investigation.

Police attended a residence after a call regarding a domestic dispute. Members were able to mediate a resolution and both parties remained at the residence.

A traffic stop resulted in a male receiving a 72-hour driver’s licence suspension and a vehicle impoundment after he tested positive for THC on a roadside screening device.

A report came in of mischief to a residence in the central part of the city. A statement was obtained. The matter is under investigation.
