ESTEVAN - There will be an election for city councillor in Estevan during the Nov. 13 civic election.
Two more candidates - Mathew Dubowski and Tom Mauss - filed their nomination papers on Monday at Estevan city hall, bringing the total number of people vying for councillor to eight, as of 4 p.m. Six councillors will be elected.
The other candidates in the field are incumbent Councillors Shelly Veroba and Kirsten Walliser, former councillor Brian Johnson, and first-time candidates Kevin Andrews, Stephen Daniel and Robin Wog.
There are still three candidates for mayor. Councillors Rebecca Foord and Tony Sernick have filed papers, as has first-time candidate Zacch Vandenhurk.
As for the school boards, incumbent trustee Kevin Keating and newcomer Craig MacDonald have filed their papers to be the Estevan representatives on the 小蓝视频 East Cornerstone Public School Division's board. Two trustees are elected from Estevan to Cornerstone.
Nobody has filed papers as of yet to be an Estevan trustee for the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division's board.
As for the RM of Estevan, there are still four candidates who have filed papers. Incumbent Reeve Jason LeBlanc has filed his papers for a first full term in that role. Two incumbent councillors, Kevin Daoust (Division 3) and Ramona Dukart (Division 5), have also filed their forms, as has first-time councillor candidate Suzanne McNabb (Division 1).
The RM will hold elections for reeve and councillors in Divisions 1, 3 and 5 this year.
The deadline to file nomination papers is Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. Candidates will then have 24 hours to withdraw.
