SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for the southeast region on Wednesday.

According to the watch, issued Wednesday afternoon, a cold front passing through southeast Saskatchewan would interact with an unstable atmosphere in the evening.

"Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop between 5 and 7 p.m. local time, and slowly move northeastward. The primary threats with these storms will be strong wind gusts, heavy rain and hail," the advisory states.

Storms were expected to settle and move out of the region by midnight.

The watch was for Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Moosomin and other areas of the southeast.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Estevan just before 7 p.m., but was lifted a short time later.
