ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service members arrested a 26-year-old Regina woman for obstruction of justice on Aug. 9.
Police originally received a report of a woman refusing to get out of a vehicle near the hospital. Members attended and mediated a resolution. The woman provided the police with a false name during this interaction. Members received two subsequent reports about the woman later in the day, and it was on the third occasion that her true identity was learned. She was arrested for obstruction of justice for providing a false name when obligated to identify herself. She was lodged in police cells. She was to be released Saturday, when sober, with a future court date. No further updates were immediately available.
Police also received a report of an individual in a vehicle observing things with a pair of binoculars. Police attended and identified the man. He was warned and sent on his way.
The same day, police received a report of theft from the lockers in a change room at the pool. An individual had cash removed from their locker and another individual had their debit card removed. The debit card was used shortly after the theft at various businesses. The matter is still under investigation.
"Police remind the public not to leave their property insecure at public facilities as it creates a crime of opportunity," EPS said in a press release.
