ESTEVAN - The Power Dodge Arena in Estevan is going to be closed for a few weeks.
In a post on its Facebook page Tuesday, the City of Estevan's leisure services division said that due to unforeseen circumstances, the rink will be closed "to undergo necessary maintenance". No further information was immediately released.
The anticipated reopening, according to the post, is Oct. 15.
In an email to the Mercury and SaskToday, Jacquelyn Massey-Rounds, the manager of marketing and communications for the City of Estevan, said the shutdown is not connected to the renovation that took place in the arena earlier this year, but it is due to an issue with the ice plant chiller.
The family skate, originally scheduled to start Oct. 2, will not run until the arena opens.
The parent and tot skate, slated to run from 11:15 a.m. to noon, and noon hockey, will run Monday-Wednesday and Friday at Affinity Place, starting Oct. 1.
