ESTEVAN - One of the people who appeared on the Saskatchewan RCMP's most wanted list has been arrested and has had his first court appearance.
The accused, who can no longer be identified due to a publication ban, was on the most-wanted list for March and April, was believed to have been in Oxbow. He was arrested in the Rural Municipality of Calder on April 13 by Esterhazy RCMP officers. He appeared in Estevan Provincial Court by phone from the Yorkton RCMP detachment on April 14, and was remanded into custody until his next scheduled court appearance on April 21.
According to the RCMP, he was wanted for sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual exploitation of a young person and failure to comply with a release condition.
Three additional charges were read off in Estevan Provincial Court during his April 14 appearance: failing to comply with a condition of an undertaking to not have contact with someone under the age of 16 without lawful excuse; one count of failing to appear court; and an arrest warrant for failing to appear for a Court of King's Bench trial on four charges in Estevan.
The three new charges are from 2019 and 2020.
The publication ban was requested by the Crown prosecutor to protect the identity of the victims.
The Crown said it was opposed to his release, and the Crown has applied to revoke his previous release. If he is to get released, it will require a judge and a bail hearing.
