ESTEVAN - Tyler Neil Shaw's matters were back before Estevan Provincial Court on Feb. 10.

Shaw, who is from Gainsborough, is charged with one count of accessory to murder after the fact in connection with the death of Briana Hayes of Oxbow in April 2024. The matter was adjourned until March 10 in Estevan.

Heather Kelly, appearing on behalf of Shaw's attorney Darren Kraushaar, said discussions need to occur on how to proceed with Shaw's matter. The co-accused in the matter, Taylor Japp, has been accused of second-degree murder in Hayes' death and has a preliminary hearing in June. Kelly said there might be discussions to adjourn Shaw's case until after the preliminary hearing.

Background: On April 24, 2024, the Carlyle RCMP received a report of a potential homicide. The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit took control of the investigation and began working to confirm the information. Hayes' body was found in a rural location in the RM of Moose Mountain around noon on April 25.

Shaw was arrested and charged the same day, while the second-degree murder charge against Japp was announced on April 26.

Both men have been released with conditions. Charges have not been proven in court.
