SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - A freezing drizzle advisory was in effect for much of southern Saskatchewan.
The advisory was issued in the morning of March 28 and included Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Assiniboia, Swift Current, Moosomin and other communities.
It stated freezing drizzle was expected through portions of southern Saskatchewan. Most of the freezing drizzle would change over to light snow by the late afternoon or evening on March 28. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots could become icy and slippery.
Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice. Motorists were asked to slow down when driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.
Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when drizzle falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create icy surfaces.
