REGINA - The Estevan 18U AA Brewers have added to their list of accolades for 2024, as they were named Baseball Saskatchewan's Senior Team of the Year at the provincial awards night Oct. 19 in Regina.
According to Baseball Sask., the Brewers' combined season record for the year was 34-4. They went 24-4 in league play, which left Estevan in top spot in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League's 18U AA circuit.
The Brewers' season was capped off by winning not only the 2024 18U AA Tier 1 provincial championship, but also the 2024 18U AA Western Canada Baseball Association championship.
At both the provincial and Western Canada championships, the team posted perfect 5-0 records.
"Their strong defensive play was evident as they only gave up a total of six runs through five games at the Western Canada championships. Another highlight of their season was a 19-game winning streak from July 9 to August 18," the bio stated.
The Brewers are the third Estevan team to win a Western Canada baseball title.
The bio went on to say that led by their graduating players, sportsmanship was at the centre of the team, as they received many compliments from opposing parents, coaches and umpires on their professional conduct and attitudes.
"The team played great baseball, had fun doing such and the players were truly great ambassadors for the city, province and the sport of baseball."
The Brewers were one of several Baseball Sask award winners this year from the southeast. SaskToday will continue to have stories during the weekend.
Also, the Regina 13U AAA White Sox were selected as the minor team of the year, as they won the Western Canadian tournament for their age group. Estevan's Taysen Tangjerd was added to the team for Western Canadians.
