ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service made a number of arrests this week.
Officers arrested a 40-year-old man for extortion on Jan. 23. He was lodged in cells to be brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody.
Police arrested an Alida male on outstanding warrants from the Carnduff detachment of the RCMP. He was later released to appear in court at a future date.
Police received a report of a female causing a disturbance at a local hotel. Members attended and no further issues were reported.
The EPS received a report of theft from a local business on Jan. 22. Members attended and arrested a man and a woman, both age 35 and from Frobisher, fleeing to their vehicle in the parking lot. The man had just been sentenced for unrelated matters earlier in January and is serving a conditional sentence order in the community. He was held in custody for breaching his order and further charged with theft. Police later remanded him into custody and he will appear in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday. The woman was later released after СÀ¶ÊÓƵ charged with theft.
Police attended to a report of a male unlawfully in a residence. Police attended and a 34-year-old man left by consent when asked.
Estevan police received a report of criminal extortion. The matter is still under investigation.
EPS members received a report of a vehicle that had been reported to be stolen out of Moose Jaw and was parked at a residence in Estevan. Police attended to the residence and the vehicle was not parked there.
Police received a report of theft from a local business. A male was reported to have left the store without paying for the items in his shopping cart. The matter is still under investigation.
A report came in of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at a residence. Members attended and mediated a resolution. Everyone was able to remain at the residence.
A report came in of two suspicious males on bicycles in southeast Estevan. Members located the individuals and spoke with them. No further action was required.
A report came in Jan. 21 of an abandoned vehicle that was blocking a driveway. Members attempted to contact the registered owner but were unable to do so. The vehicle was removed.
Police received a report of a vehicle passing a school bus while the signal arm was out and the stop lights were flashing. Statement were obtained. The matter is under investigation.
Several curfew checks were completed. All individuals that were checked were home.
Estevan police received a report Jan. 20 of a male breaching the conditions of a peace bond. A statement was obtained from the victim. The matter is under investigation.
The EPS received a phone call that a female was causing a disturbance in central Estevan. Members attended but were unable to locate her.
