ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service was kept busy during the Good Friday long weekend.
A report of a suspicious female was filed with police on April 18; police also received a description and last known direction of travel. The female, who is known to police, was observed on camera, attempting to gain access to buildings and other property on site.
She was subsequently located, arrested and charged with mischief. The female was released with a court date in June to speak to the charge.
In other recent police news, the EPS received a report on April 17 of a dog running at large that was picked up by a citizen. The dog was transported to the Estevan Humane Society.
A traffic stop was attempted on a black car. The car failed to stop for police and fled. No pursuit was initiated and the matter is under investigation.
Curfew checks were completed on several individuals. All were found to be in compliance with their release conditions.
Police were dispatched to a burglar alarm at a business in northeast Estevan on April 18. Members spoke with staff and it was determined to be false.
Members were dispatched to a report of a female in distress. The Police and Crisis Team (PACT), along with patrol members, attended and the person was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for further assessment.
Police were called to what was reported as a break and enter in progress to a home. Members attended and learned there was a dispute over cab fare that caused a disagreement. During the investigation, it was reported that individuals uttered threats so the matter is still under investigation.
The EPS received a call for service April 19 in relation to a disturbance and dispute between two parties. The individuals were spoken to and separated for the evening. The PACT team assisted one person in getting connected to services in the community.
A suspicious male was reported in north Estevan. The person was alleged to be walking around smoking from a crack pipe. A male was located in the area but was not committing a criminal offence when he encountered police, and insufficient grounds existed to further the investigation at that time.
Police received a call for service from a tenant who was in a dispute with another tenant. Members attended and mediated a resolution for the evening.
Police received a call through the Report Impaired Drivers line, regarding a vehicle leaving a local liquor establishment. The vehicle was stopped by police and the driver was found to not be impaired.
