Estevan police arrest man for impaired driving

ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service conducted a traffic stop on June 7. A demand was made on an approved screening device and the driver provided a sample with a result of "fail".

The 23-year-old Estevan man was arrested and transported to the police station, where he was charged under the Criminal Code for impaired driving/exceeding while over 0.08. He was lodged in cells and was to be released with a later court date.

Police were also dispatched to a local business for a misuse of 911. It was determined that youths were possibly playing with phones within the store.

While out on patrol, the automated licence plate recognition device indicated a suspended driver. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was confirmed to be suspended due to unpaid fines. A ticket was issued under the Traffic Safety Act.

On June 8, members were dispatched to a report of a man who was causing a disturbance. He was looking for a tenant who used to reside at the apartment. He was asked to leave and did so. Members patrolled the area and did not locate anyone matching the description provided.

Police were dispatched to a report of people riding dirt bikes within the city limits. Owners of the dirt bikes were spoken to and warned of their actions.

Numerous traffic stops were conducted, and the drivers of the vehicles were all found to be sober.
