Estevan man charged for child pornography and more

ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service responded to 58 occurrences over the weekend, including multiple driving complaints, frauds, counterfeit currency, requests for well-小蓝视频 checks on individuals in the community, suspicious persons and vehicles, noise complaints and an assault.

EPS members assisted the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit with an ongoing investigation on Sept. 20. A 20-year-old Estevan man has been charged with possession of child pornography, make available child pornography, invitation to sexual touching, and make available sexually explicit material to a person believed to be under the age of 13 years of age. The accused was released for a future court date in front of a Justice of the Peace and has to abide by several conditions.

His name was not immediately released. 

The same day police received a report of a person rummaging around the exhibition grounds. Members patrolled the area but did not locate any suspicious activity.

A manager from a local business reported someone passing counterfeit $100 dollar bills. The matter remains under investigation.

Members also attended parking complaints and a report of a suspended driver.

A member of the EPS conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 21 after observing a vehicle driving in an erratic manner. As a result of the stop, an oral fluid demand was made which resulted in the driver testing positive for THC. This resulted in a blood demand. The 31-year-old Estevan man received a three-day driving suspension, and his vehicle was impounded. The matter is awaiting blood test results for any potential further charges.

Members attended to a south-side apartment complex for repeated noise complaints. Police spoke at length with all parties involved and were able to mediate the situation.

Another call for service came in when a man in central Estevan was heard yelling for someone to call the police. Members attended and the parties involved were spoken with at length. One individual agreed to leave the residence to allow for a cooling-off period.

A well-小蓝视频 check was requested by the RCMP on a woman they believed to be within the city of Estevan. Police attended to known locations the woman may be at but were unable to locate her. The RCMP were advised as such.

Police issued a 21-day driving suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment to a 36-year-old Winnipeg woman after she tested positive for cocaine on an oral fluid device. Charges are pending the results of a blood.

Over the weekend, officers also responded to a 911 call in the Pleasantdale area. A woman was located who had been in an argument with a loved one. No further police action was required as she was in the care of family members.

An Estevan man was arrested and will face two charges for uttering threats to cause death as well as one count of assault with a weapon. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court next week.

Earlier last week on Sept. 19, a report of mischief to a vehicle was received. A vehicle in the Willow Park Greens area had two tires slashed while it was parked outside a residence. If anyone has information on this crime, they are asked to call Saskatchewan Crimes Stoppers.

A report of uttering threats to cause bodily harm came in during the day. The female suspect is facing criminal charges as a result.

Police also received a call of a possible break-in. Members attended, did a search of the residence and were able to determine that no break-in occurred.
