ESTEVAN - The Estevan 11U AA Brewers captured the silver medal at the Baseball Saskatchewan 11U Tier 2 B provincial championships on Sunday.
The Brewers, who were the host team for the event, lost 12-2 in four innings in the final to the Saskatoon Blue Jay Mud Dawgs at Mel Murray Cactus Park. Saskatoon scored five runs in each of the second and fourth innings, and the mercy rule was invoked.
Both of Estevan's runs came in the top of the fourth inning.
The Brewers were comprised of house league players. They went 2-1 in the round robin to finish second in their pool. Then they mercyed the Saskatoon Blue Jay Bombers 13-0 in four innings in the semifinal round; the Bombers had defeated the Brewers in the round robin.
Estevan also hosted the 15U AA Tier 1 tournament on the weekend. The host Estevan Brewers reached the semifinal round, and lost 12-1 to the Saskatoon Braves in five innings. The Braves went on to defeat the Prince Albert Royals 13-6 in the final.
