BIENFAIT — A thick pillar of smoke was visible in the Bienfait area Wednesday afternoon.
Darker smoke, coming from a location southwest of Bienfait, could be seen from Highway 18 east and other roads northeast of Estevan.
Bienfait Fire Chief Riley Starling confirmed there was no emergency.
SPSA media spokesperson later confirmed that there were controlled burns reported in the Bienfait area, as farmers were burning flax straw in the fields.
