REGINA - TeleMiracle 48 once again offered an incredible display of talent throughout the 20 hours of televised broadcast on Feb. 24-25.
This year the event was held in Regina, where the theatre-like venue was smaller, but the seating was sold out. Dozens of talented individuals came from all corners of the province to show case their talent, but also to help raise funds for this cause and be part of the biggest event that the Saskatchewan Kinsmen and Kinettes hold.
Teagan Littlechief was part of the national cast this year.
Every dollar that is raised through Telemiracle stays in Saskatchewan to help friends, neighbours, families and communities.
Over 1,000 applications are received for assistance of one kind or another.
Littlechief said TeleMiracle 48 is an event she will never forget and one that she holds close to her heart.
“It was so beautiful to see so many people committed to giving back,” said Littlechief.
“This helps so many people and it really touches a person’s heart,” she added.
“The setup and the teardown and the people that did the production, people who did the hair and makeup, everyone did such a fabulous job."
Littlechief felt everything was done in a very professional way, and everyone had such a cheerful outlook.
“It is amazing to see how many people TeleMiracle has helped over the years and this year is no different," she said.
This year over $6 million was raised in the 20-hour span, and Littlechief enjoyed having to ask people to “Ring those phones".
Although the event lasts for a brief time on the air, Littlechief arrived in the city a week in advance.
She appeared on a morning news broadcast, singing her new release, Need you to go. They also stopped at the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan and heard how the gift of $1 million dollars from TeleMiracle helped buy a brand-new cancer screening bus.
Another stop was at the Santa Maria Senior Citizens' Home, where TeleMiracle gifted a wheelchair washer. They were off to many other stops, picking up donations made by businesses in the city.
Now home from her week, the excitement continues for Littlechief, who is from White Bear First Nations.
Littlechief has made it to the second ballot for the Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) Awards for Female Artist of the Year and the Indigenous Artist of the Year.
She is also on the first ballot with fFan’s choice. This award is open to anyone who wants to vote.
Telemiracle 49 will be in the works soon and is slated for March 1-2, 2025, in Saskatoon, and Littlechief is hoping she will be asked once again to be part of this event to help people improve their independence and quality of life.
Littlechief made several new friends along the way and is grateful to be part of something where every dollar makes a difference.
