WHITE BEAR FIRST NATIONS - The Saskatchewan RCMP's Major Crimes unit says there will be a continued increased police presence on White Bear First Nations regarding an investigation into the suspicious death of a 33-year-old man.

Officers continue to encourage anyone with information to contact police by calling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or .

If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, the RCMP says it will release details.

According to the initial news release, at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 3, the Carlyle RCMP received a report of an injured individual at a residence on the White Bear First Nations. Officers immediately responded and located a deceased man. He has been identified as a 33-year-old from Coronach, and his family has been notified.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes has taken the lead of the investigation.

The RCMP did not divulge whether anyone has been arrested or charged in connection with the incident.

In a post on his Facebook page Dec. 3, Chief Jonathan Pasap said he requested the RCMP to have increased presence for public safety. All White Bear offices and services were closed in the morning of Dec. 3, and remained closed until 1 p.m. the following day.

"We ask that you pray for our community," Pasap said in his initial Facebook post.

"Let’s all be safe out there and support each other during this time of crisis."

In a later post, Pasap asked that White Bear citizens continue to be vigilant and remain home so the RCMP can continue their investigation. Mental health services were requested and are available for anybody who wishes to access them.

"Thank you to all our WB citizens, community friends and all concerned citizens for your prayers and words of support during this time of crisis," he said.
