On March 6 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Saskatchewan RCMP officer with Weyburn Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) was conducting proactive patrols on Highway 9 near Carlyle.
CARLYLE - A man has been charged with trafficking, and firearm offences after allegedly assaulting and attempting to disarm police officers
On March 6 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Saskatchewan RCMP officer with Weyburn Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) was conducting proactive patrols on Highway 9 near Carlyle.
They observed a speeding vehicle, engaged their emergency lights and performed a traffic stop.
The officer noted the driver smelled of cannabis and administered roadside tests, which determined he has consumed cannabis and cocaine before driving. The driver began acting erratically and the officer requested back-up from nearby CTSS officers.
The driver attempted to flee on foot and resisted officers while he was 小蓝视频 arrested. He attempted to bite and disarm one officer.
The officers were not seriously injured.
As a result of the continued investigation, officers located a loaded handgun, a 3D-printed semi-automatic rifle, approximately 133 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 36 grams of psilocybin, approximately 23 grams of illicit cannabis, approximately 50 grams of cannabis shatter, pocket knives and trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the continued investigation, a 26-year-old man, from Yorkton, is charged with:
- one count, disarming a police officer;
- two counts, assault police officer;
- two counts, resist/obstruct peace officer;
- one count, trafficking (cocaine);
- one count, trafficking;
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking;
- one count, operation of a conveyance while impaired by drug;
- two counts, unsafe storage of a firearm;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- one count, carrying a concealed weapon;
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized;
- two counts, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle;
- two counts, unlicensed possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition;
- one count, possession of a weapon obtained by crime; and
-three counts, weapons possession contrary to order.
He was also arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on March 10.
