Nora Elizabeth Jacques, age 96, passed away peacefully at Deer View Lodge in Wawota on June 23, 2013 with family by her side.
Nora, youngest of seven, was born on November 26, 1916 to John William and Anna Mary (Dooley) Simons. Nora attended school at Ardine and worked for various people as a housekeeper. On January 28, 1942, she married Alex Jacques. They farmed in the Dumas-Ardine District until they retired to Wawota in 1980.
Nora loved dancing, playing cards, needlework, and gardening. She also loved visiting with family and friends.
Nora is predeceased by her husband, Alex, and her brothers and sisters.
Nora is lovingly remembered by her two children, Allan (Avril Fitzsimmons), Arlene (Maurice Lamontagne), six grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many friends.
The funeral service, officiated by Mr. Hector Seville, was held at the Wawota Catholic Church with interment in Dumas Cemetery. G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Moosomin/Wawota in care of arrangements.
The family would like to express a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Mr. Plewes and all of the staff at Deer View Lodge for the exceptional care that she received in her time there. Also to the staff at G.R. Carscadden for their professionalism and guidance; to Father Hector, the organist, the eulogist, the pallbearers, the congregation and the CWL for the beautiful celebration of life; and to all of our family and friends for the understanding and support, the condolences, cards, flowers, and food that we received. It is inspiring to see how one life can touch so many. Words alone cannot express our appreciation.
