It is with great sadness that we, our family, of Bernie McOuat announce his passing so suddenly and unexpectedly at home on June 24th, 2013.

Bernie is survived by his best friend and beloved wife Eloise McOuat (Arcola, SK). Left to cherish his memory, his children Darrell (Brenda), Garry (Marlene), Duane (Cyndie), Laurie (Garth). Nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren. His mother in law Antonia Helman, one brother, three sisters, number sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family - Florence Scarrow and family, and his little buddy, his pug (Rascal) who travelled with Bernie for nine years - twenty four seven. Bernie's passing has really taken a toll on Rascal.

Bernie was predeceased by his parents Scotty and Marjorie McOuat, a brother Melville, two brother in-laws, Gene and Cameron Helman, father in-law Greg Helman, nephews Greg and Cole Helman.

Bernie lived a full life, 40 plus years in pipeline and most in the oil patch, where it took him to Arctic, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, in which he also has extended families. Bernie worked as a consultant most of his life and thoroughly enjoyed working with all walks of life. Many people told me, they felt that they had known Bernie for a lifetime. They admired his kindness, gentle heart and his incredibly strong work ethic, true measure of a good, fair, honest man. Bernie will be missed in the "patch".

After the hard winters, Bernie looked forward to break-up where Eloise and Bernie travelled extensively, which took them to England on business and many European countries. He especially loved Fiji, and all parts of the U.S.A. where we have many friends and relatives.

Bernie had a great sense of humor, a big heart, and loved life and dancing.

Bernie's graveside service will be held on August 31st, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lemsford Cemetery at Lemsford, SK.

I would like to send many heartfelt Thank yous to everyone for the kind words, big hugs, messages, phone calls, cards, flowers and food. A special thank you to Judy and Norman Paul, to Manford and Cindy Helman and to my special nieces who never let the phone go cold, Courtney, Kim, Casey, Leah, Camelle, and nephew Cody Helman. You all are my "rock".

Bernie was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will forever be loved, missed to no end, remembered and always in our hearts.

Eloise and family
