Saskatoon mom and blogger shares comprehensive list of more than 100 summer camps

Sneakers and Lipstick began as a personal blog website in 2017, when Kardash was a stay-at-home mom. People began to connect with her page when looking for things to do in the city, and as a result, multiple social channels evolved into go-to resources for locals and visitors.

小蓝视频 asked Kardash what inspired her to undertake all the work that goes into the incredible list showcasing more than 100 summer camps available to families this year, in alphabetical order, and her response was, “Honestly, it all comes down to wanting to make life a little easier for families in Saskatoon. As a parent myself, I know how overwhelming it can be trying to track down all the options for camps… what’s out there, what ages they’re for, what the costs are, and when registration opens.”

The Saskatoon mom and influencer admits these lists are a lot of work, and definitely a labour of love, which she pours countless hours into. However, every year when she gets messages from parents saying this list saved them so much time and stress, Kardash feels the efforts are worthwhile as she knows she is helping, and that is the best motivation.

“Putting together local guides has been a big part of growing my platform. The free resources I create drive traffic to my website and my social channels which in turn, invites income opportunities. See, I earn through sponsored posts on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and the site itself. The more engaged my followers are, the more valuable my audience is for potential partners and advertisers,” says the creator behind Sneakers and Lipstick.

Kardash says there are camp organizers who aren’t sure they’ll even 小蓝视频 doing a camp when she initially reaches out, while others start contacting her early to ensure they are included in this valuable go-to summer camp list. It involves multiple follow-ups and editing as new information rolls in.

Kardash has offered seasonal guides when she hears there is enough interest, and when she knows she can carve out the time to create them. This includes her weekly weekend to-do lists in Saskatoon.

“When there’s a strong community buzz or a need for a roundup (like back-to-school or fall family activities), I try to help out by creating something useful. It’s all about timing, interest, and making sure the effort will benefit the community without burning out my volunteer capacity. Because I do volunteer offline as well,” says Kardash.

The Saskatoon ambassador and activity enthusiast puts in countless hours on Google, Messenger and on the phone getting all the details, with links, to attach to her expansive list.

She also notes, that churches around the city also host camps and invites interested families to give their denomination of choice a call to find out

So many choices include an ancient & medieval adventure or aspiring artist’s option. Dance camps, learn French, and wildlife exploration camps are part of what is detailed in Kardash’s extensive list.

Some camps run for several days, while others run a week at a time, or a specific duration throughout summer. Registration fees help pay for the costs associated with supplies, facility use and facilitator honorariums.

Always been curious about snakes, lizards and amphibians? There is even a reptile camp upcoming, with dates in July and August, for such an experience. In fact, looking through the list there are a number of options that are specific to wildlife and animals.

Dance, music and other avenues of the arts are also offered in a number of these summer camps listed.

An intriguing, unique option 小蓝视频 offered is the Sask PolyTech Girls Exploring Trades and Technology, available in July for girls in Grades 6, 7 and 8. The camp provides opportunity to meet women in trades and build self awareness and confidence along with finding new talents, skills and abilities.

Sports is another common theme ranging from gymnastics to basketball, rounded out with a number of other sporting options.

Even the Western Development Museum is on the list giving kids an opportunity to step back in time through Saskatchewan’s past, showing what life was like for settle kids in 1910.
