SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a detached garage fire on Monday, April 14, in the 300 block of Witney Avenue North. The SFD’s dispatch received the report at 4:18 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters saw smoke coming from the detached garage. They advanced hose lines to apply water, while a separate crew protected their egress for safety, and another searched the premises to confirm that no occupants were inside.

The search confirmed that all occupants had been evacuated safely. The fire was brought under control and completely extinguished. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians who occupied the house with the detached garage.

A fire investigator was on the scene once responding firefighters declared it safe to enter the detached garage. The investigator will examine the scene to identify the cause and origin of the fire and estimate the damage.
