Tribute to ‘The Chicks’ rescheduled, floor renos not complete

From memorable sing-alongs to moving ballads and rocking country numbers, their powerful songs resonate with everyone.

WEYBURN - A tribute to The Chicks will open the Weyburn Concert Series, on Thursday, Sept. 28, 7:30 p.m. at the Cugnet Centre.

The concert was rescheduled due to renovations to the gym floor, which was caused by flooding last May at the WCS.

Bridging the gap between pop and country, The Chicks are the top-selling female group of all-time.

From memorable sing-alongs to moving ballads and rocking country numbers, their powerful songs resonate with everyone.

With the look, attitude, soaring harmonies and musical prowess, “Gaslighter - Songs of The Chicks” brings you the Ultimate Chicks Experience.

Gaslighter is Juno award-winner Shannon Saunders, Tracy Masson and Emily Ashcroft.

Inspired by the adventurous spirit and musical artistry of Natalie, Martie and Emily, they are backed up by a full live band, complete with fiddle, banjo, guitars, keyboards, bass and drums.

The Weyburn Concert Series will next host Diyet and the Love Soldiers on Wednesday, Nov. 1, featuring an Indigenous singer-songwriter Diyet from the Yukon.

Christmas with the Ennis Sisters will grace the stage on Thursday, Nov. 30, followed in the New Year with the sketch comedy of “Middle Raged”, starring Geri Hall and Gary Pearson, on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024.

The bluegrass and 50s rockabilly sounds of Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys will play on Monday, April 22, and the final instalment of the Concert Series will be “Reckless – A tribute to Bryan Adams”, on Sunday, May 5.

Concert and season tickets are available at the Weyburn Review office and at Old Fashion Foods. Tickets for “Gaslighter” for Sept. 28 are $45 in advance or $50 at the door.
