"Gasoline prices in Canada have edged slightly lower over the past week, even as geopolitical tensions intensify," says Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

REGINA — Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have fallen 2.6 c/L in the past week, averaging 153.17 c/L yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 82 gas outlets in Regina. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.5 c/L in the last week to 151.66 c/L, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

"Gasoline prices in Canada have edged slightly lower over the past week, even as geopolitical tensions intensify, with the Trump administration promising tariffs that could not only create economic uncertainty but also impact what some Canadians pay at the pump in the weeks ahead," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

"Given the volatility surrounding the tariff situation, forecasting fuel prices remains challenging, as uncertainty lingers over the timing and scope of these tariffs, which the Trump administration has suggested will soon take effect. This comes on top of ongoing concerns about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and discussions of a potential deal to end the war. While OPEC has signaled its intent to stabilize the market, policy decisions from the White House could introduce further uncertainty, making it difficult to predict where prices will head next. However, nearly every year sees a seasonal spring increase, which could push prices higher by summer."

Including the change in gas prices in Regina during the past week, prices yesterday were 5.7 c/L higher than the same day one year ago and are 3.4 c/L higher than a month ago. The national average has decreased 1.8 c/L during the last month and stands 1.2 c/L higher than this day one year ago.

According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on March 3 in Regina have ranged widely over the last five years: 147.49 c/L in 2024, 146.28 c/L in 2023, 156.17 c/L in 2022, 115.36 c/L in 2021 and 102.01 c/L in 2020.
