REGINA - Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have fallen 1.0 c/L in the past week, averaging 152.45 c/L yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 82 gas outlets in Regina.
This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.8 c/L in the last week to 149.68 c/L, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
"The average price of gasoline in Canada hasn't been this low in early March since 2021, when the pandemic significantly reduced demand and kept prices suppressed. This time around, caution is also playing a role in keeping prices lower — particularly uncertainty over tariffs, which is likely having a moderate impact," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "Concerns about the direction of the economy could have a major influence on fuel prices in the months ahead, especially with the high level of uncertainty surrounding tariffs. Additionally, OPEC+ announced last week that it would gradually begin restoring oil production after nearly two years of cuts, adding further downward pressure on oil prices. As a result, the typical seasonal rise in gas prices has yet to materialize, and if and when it does, it may be considerably smaller than expected."
Including the change in gas prices in Regina during the past week, prices yesterday were 4.8 c/L higher than the same day one year ago and are 4.5 c/L lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 4.9 c/L during the last month and stands 1.8 c/L lower than this day one year ago.
According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on March 10 in Regina have ranged widely over the last five years:
147.65 c/L in 2024, 155.00 c/L in 2023, 176.56 c/L in 2022, 115.19 c/L in 2021 and 97.06 c/L in 2020.
