SASKATOON - Angela Trout had a win-filled morning earlier this month. The Saskatoon resident checked a couple of lottery tickets, winning a few $2 prizes, a Free Play and what she thought was a $100 Western Max prize.
Well, she thought wrong! Turns out, Trout won a much larger prize: $1 million on the October 3 Western Max draw!
“I really thought I had won $100,” she explained in her prize claim interview. “I gave it to the cashier to scan, and she screamed: ‘You won $1 million!’”
“I was paralyzed,” she continued, laughing. “Nothing was registering for me, nothing was sinking in. Honestly, I’m still surprised by it.”
The winner said her husband is experiencing the same feeling.
“He’s in complete shock,” she said. “He hasn’t spoken much in over a week!”
Trout said she hasn’t given too much thought to what she will do with her windfall, but there is one smaller purchase she’s excited to make.
“I’m going to buy a mop,” she said. “I’m half-joking, but it will be my first purchase – I need a new mop.”
The winner said she will also look into buying a new or newer vehicle.
Trout purchased her winning Western Max ticket at the Save on Foods located at 20-1503 8th St. E. She won one of the 14 additional prizes drawn on October 3 by matching the numbers 13, 16, 23, 28, 29, 37 and 38.
