鈥淚n times like these, it鈥檚 important that we come together and support those in our community who are impacted by the tragic events unfolding in Ukraine,鈥 says Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.

REGINA — In response to the invasion by Russia of Ukraine, SaskTel announced Friday it will waive a number of fees to ensure its customers can connect with family and friends most impacted by the situation.

“In times like these, it’s important that we come together and support those in our community who are impacted by the tragic events unfolding in Ukraine,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “To the thousands of Ukranian-Canadian families that call our province home, please know that Saskatchewan stands with you and Ukraine.”

Effective immediately and until March 31, SaskTel will automatically waive all:

  • Long-distance charges for SaskTel wireless (postpaid and prepaid), landline, and business calls made from Canada to Ukraine.
  • International text messaging fees for text messages sent from Canada to Ukraine.
  • Roaming charges for calls, texts, and data overages for customers currently in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Canadian Press has learned the federal government plans to match donations individuals make to the Canadian Red Cross to help bring humanitarian relief to Ukraine.

The head of Save the Children Canada is also urging Canadians to donate funds to help the humanitarian efforts on the ground as the fighting continues in Ukraine.
