The RCMP is warning motorists of hazardous travel conditions.

REGINA - The Saskatchewan RCMP is advising the public that winter weather is impacting road conditions in parts of the province, including Regina and the surrounding area.

Travel is not recommended on highways in the Regina and Moose Jaw area, including Highway 1 from Mortlach to Indian Head. Similar warnings exist in the Outlook, Kindersley and Rosetown areas.

In a news release issued Friday just after 5 p.m., the RCMP said the following factors are impacting road conditions and/or visibility:

  • Snow-covered lanes;
  • Drifting and blowing snow; and
  • Strong winds.

Before travelling, the RCMP asks people to check the weather and road conditions along your route. If poor weather or road conditions exist or are forecasted, consider delaying travel if possible. If travel is necessary, stay on roads that have recently received road maintenance. Travellers can access information on road conditions and track which roads have been plowed, salted, and/or sanded within the last two hours at the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's Highway Hotline, .
