Premier Scott Moe is set to make a major policy announcement at a noon hour luncheon in the Battlefords Tuesday,

NORTH BATTLEFORD — The Chapel Gallery will be the venue Tuesday as Premier Scott Moe releases a much-anticipated white paper on how his government will address federal policies impacting Saskatchewan.

The noon event is 小蓝视频 hosted by the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce. According to the province’s news release, at that North Battleford event Moe will release a policy paper outlining the economic impacts of various federal policies on Saskatchewan, as well as next steps to protect Saskatchewan people, jobs and businesses from federal intrusion into areas of exclusive provincial jurisdiction under the constitution.

Premier Moe had dropped hints publicly about the white paper announcement in an appearance on John Gormley’s province-wide radio show.

In that radio appearance Friday, Moe told Gormley this paper would “start the foundation for some of the initiatives that we’re going to look at this fall.” He indicated his government was looking at potential legislation to clarify what the federal and provincial jurisdiction is and what the process would be.

The news of the provincial white paper also comes after last week’s win by Danielle Smith of the United Conservative Party leadership in Alberta to become that province’s new premier.

That race also saw federal-provincial relations as a major issue. During that campaign, Smith had run on a platform of bringing in a provincial sovereignty act to protect Alberta from federal intrusion.
